In the last year, I’ve come to the realization that I needed to make some changes to my beauty routine. I was determined to reduce the amount of cosmetics I was using and focus more on skincare. As I’ve gotten older, it has become increasingly important to prioritize my skin’s health. Despite the overwhelming amount of YouTube videos and TikTok analyses available online, I remained confident in my ability to set and achieve my personal skincare goals.

Beginner’s guide to healthy skin care insights 101.

Determining your skin type is the first step towards flawless skin. Whether you’re an oily girl, a dry skin goddess, a combination skin queen or a sensitive skin babe, you have the power to unlock your skin’s potential. Don’t be intimidated by the high prices of luxury skincare brands, drugstore skincare can be just as effective when used consistently and intentionally.

Choosing the right products for your skin can be a daunting task, here are some tips to make the process easier and more effective:

Firstly, consider your budget and choose a price point that works for you. Next up, evaluate the ingredients and how they align with your skincare goals. Whether you want to reduce acne, enhance hydration, decrease inflammation, or reverse aging, it’s important to choose products that support your desired outcome.

When choosing a brand, don’t just rely on marketing messages. Instead, consider the company’s core values and how they align with your own. Not all brands are created equal, so take the time to question everything and apply your own understanding.

Caring for your skin can be challenging, but it’s worth it. With consistency and the right products, you can achieve healthy, glowing skin that boosts your self-confidence.

Finally, consider adding vitamin supplements like biotin to your routine. Supplements are an easy and effective way to promote healthy skin. If you prefer something more enjoyable, try gummies from brands like Hair Skin and Nail, Hairfinity, or Sugarbear Hair. With a wide range of options to choose from, you’re sure to find one that suits your needs.

B vitamins are a fundamental part of a healthy diet and play a crucial role in converting food into energy. Consuming whole grains, dark green vegetables, and lean proteins is an excellent way to obtain these essential vitamins naturally. Not only can they promote healthy hair, supple skin, and strong nails, but Biotin, a specific B vitamin, also possesses anti-inflammatory properties, enhances mental clarity, and lowers bad cholesterol levels.

While dairy products are a good source of calcium, which is crucial for maintaining strong bones, it’s vital to maintain a balanced intake. If you struggle with acne, reducing your dairy consumption may be beneficial.

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. This can lead to bacterial growth and inflammation, which can cause scarring if left untreated. Incorporating B vitamins into your diet and reducing your dairy consumption can help reduce inflammation, enhance mental clarity, and maintain healthy skin. B vitamins can be absorbed naturally through the consumption of specific foods, making them an essential part of a healthy diet.

While dairy is beneficial for promoting strong bones, minimizing your dairy intake can do wonders for acne-prone skin. It’s never a bad idea to consider reducing your dairy intake to maintain healthy skin. You don’t have to eliminate it entirely; moderation is key. Acne is one of the most common skin struggles, and it occurs when oil gets trapped in pores, leading to bacterial growth and inflammation. If left untreated, it can result in scarring.

This is highly underestimated, but the reduction of dairy intake is important. I’m not asserting the need to remove dairy completely seeing that it promotes strong bones, but minimizing will do wonders for your skin if you struggle with acne, don’t completely cut dairy from your diet please or you’ll be snapping, cracking and popping in no time and that’s on rice Krispies.
Acne is one of the most common struggles in skincare, what tends to happen is the oil within the skin gets entangled in the pores. This causes bacteria growth within in the skin follicles, initiating inflammation resulting in scarring if left untreated. I have no ill intentions towards this calcium-rich comrade, but it’s never a bad idea to rectify.

SUNSCREEN

Don’t forget to slather on some sunscreen, my friend – it’s super important to keep your skin safe from the sun’s harmful rays. Raise your hand if you’re not a fan of the smell or feel of some sunscreens – I know I am! If you know of any sweet alternatives to the usual sunscreen brands, drop a comment below and let me know.

Just remember, not all sunscreens are created equal. Research has shown that an ingredient in 90% of sunscreens called oxybenzone could mess with your hormones and even cause cancer – yikes! But hey, don’t let that stop you from using SPF protection. Better safe than sorry, am I right?

How To Apply An SPF Moisturizer
treat skin first by applying a coat of serum or concentrate, for adequate results
spread a pea-sized portion of moisturizer on to hands
rub hands to warm up the moisturizer
apply onto high points of the face first – forehead, nose, cheeks
work moisturizer into the rest of the face.
apply to larger areas last – neck and chest, if needed
add more gradually if coverage is not enough

here’s a quick tip for kids, teens and adults. Invest in a really good rash guard, the fabric has built-in UPF 50 for added protection to keep you comfortable and worry-free.

HYDRATE

Did you know that water is not only essential for your overall health but also plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin?

When we don’t drink enough water, our skin becomes more prone to various skin disorders such as premature wrinkles, dry patches, scars, pimples, acne, and chapped lips. That’s why it’s vital to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water helps to maintain the skin’s elasticity and keeps the pores unclogged.

When the skin is dehydrated, toxins can clog up the small pores of the epidermis, leading to skin ailments. But when we hydrate our skin from the inside out, it helps keep our skin looking healthy and glowing. So, let’s make a conscious effort to drink enough water every day to keep our skin healthy and free from any skin disorders. Remember, hydration is the key to healthy skin!

Drinking enough water is super important for your body to function properly! But let’s be real, it can be a bit of a challenge to drink eight glasses a day. So, here’s a little trick: the amount of water you need depends on your height, weight, daily routine, and metabolism.

If you find it hard to drink eight glasses a day, try starting with six glasses and gradually increase your intake as you get used to it. And if you want to add a little extra pizazz to your water, try adding some lemon or cucumber for a boost of flavor and nutrients!
